This is what resonated with me "People get lost all the time. In the woods. On the ocean. In life. What enables us to find our way home? What returns to us a sense of direction, a knowing, an inner wisdom or God-voice that guides us towards a tree, a sign, a way." Ryan calls it his spidey-sense or a gut feeling. I often find myself reflecting that I had a sense that I shouldn't do something, but don't listen to that voice. I need to learn to recognize and listen to that inner voice when it is speaking to me. Just as you trusted it to help you find your way home. Perhaps that will help me find the right path towards happiness.

The more we trust ourselves, the deeper we experience joy, more than we can imagine. We tap into the Source of it all. I have grown to experience it is one of the ways that God speaks to me. It's a resonance that I can't describe, a truth I cannot ignore. An awakening, a realization. It comes when you least expect it. The more you seek it, the more it will come. It's a muscle, and it feels weak when you first use it but it requires strengthening. Bouncing it off yourself, praying about it, seeking wise counsel...from someone you know and trust (mentors/coaches/Ryan)...and then looking deeper...this is how we get there.

thanks for this recounting of your hiking in the bush/woods and then connecting it to life. It feels like parallel journeys. Your writing is so descriptive, your experience with it's ups and downs so alive. Great learnings and awareness!

Work hard.. play hard.. has also been my MO for decades. Good questions .. were you lost?.. or seeking a greater adventure by testing ’dads’ conventional rules for ‘walks’. Guess what.. you were on an adventure, vs a ‘this is exactly how you do this’ walk. I’ll take the adventure.. anytime.. as that added pulse is what reminded you that you are ‘alive, loved, thankful’.

I agree Denis, you definitely demonstrate this in your life! I agree that I was adventuring and maybe being lost is an adventure, if we choose to call is so. It's all in how we view it, right? And yes, if there's someone's rules I'm gonna bend or break it is my fathers ;) I wouldn't have had this blog post if it weren't for that experience so it was definitely worth it!!!
